Before the Recital:
The day of the Recital:
Dress for the recital: please dress nicely. Dressing "up" is appropriate for a special event like this and makes the day set apart.
Highlight your child the day of the Recital… A healthy breakfast and lunch will be important (even if the 'butterflies' ruin their appetite, food is important!).
Singers should avoid dairy, if possible, a couple of hours prior to the recital.
Singers should also warm up on their own ahead of time. This is important!
Plan to arrive so that your child can be in the recital room 15min before start time. There are two free parking lots - one on each side of the facility (marked "Parking for Coffee Connection / Westside Vineyard").
We hope you'll carve out time and space both before and after the Recital to enjoy our pre and post Recital Receptions! Along with having exclusive usage of the beautiful Coffee Coffection Courtyard, we are setting apart this time and space to celebrate our students and teachers. Along with delicious light foods and drink (coffees, wines, teas, etc) we'll have the featured Recital Mocktail, The Mozart Mule!
Be sure to be sensitive and use discretion when bringing children under 3 years of age. Talking / making noise / excessive movement during the students' short performances can really distract and be frustrating to the performers and their families. While many children/youth performances simply don't allow children under 3yrs at performances, we recognize that some of you will be unable to find a sitter/etc. So while we welcome you to bring children under 3 years of age, please quickly step outside if your child begins to excessively move or make noise. The outdoor Courtyard adjacent to the Recital room will have a livestream of the Recital on a large TV, and you may simply walk to that area so as not to distract. Also please do not allow your young child to walk around the room during the recital. If any of these things happen, we will kindly ask you to step outside and enjoy the Rectial from the outdoor livestream (for the sake of the performers and their families).
Recital etiquette for the audience involves showing respect to all performers by being as quiet as possible while they are playing or singing. Please listen attentively and applaud generously!
Our location this year is the Coffee Connection / Westside Vineyard Church, not far from the Musikbox facility: 3838 South Centinela Ave, LA, CA 90066.
Thank you so much to those of you who have contributed to help offset recital expenses. If you haven't yet and you would like to (it's not required), you may make a contribution here to our 2023 Recital Fund.
